\u201cThere is what we know we know. There is what we know we don't know. But there is also what we don't know that we don't know.<\/strong>.\u201d<\/em><\/p>

This quote from Donald Rumsfeld referring to the problems generated by the Iraq war. It also describes many of the problems encountered by small businessmen.<\/p>

For it is precisely what we don't know that we don't know that can do us the most harm. Because if you don't know something, but you know you don't know it, you can ask questions, educate yourself, ask for help.<\/p>

But when you don't even know you should be looking there, the problem grows quietly, without resistance, until it becomes too big to ignore.<\/p>

Many freelancers and entrepreneurs have an advisor or manager to whom they send their invoices once a quarter. This person calculates the taxes, reports the result and, from time to time, resolves any queries over the phone. It is a functional model... to a certain extent.<\/p>

Today it is easy to find low-cost consultancies that respond only by WhatsApp or email. Often, it is even an AI that answers basic questions. All very efficient, very modern, and also very limited.<\/p>

The service usually boils down to what you upload yourself. No questions. No context. No one to look at your activity in depth.<\/p>

There are also the offices where you see the consultant briefly, every three months, when you hand over the invoices. Add up, calculate, present... and see you next time.<\/p>

And then one wonders:<\/p>

How many customers do you need to manage for such a model to be profitable?<\/p>

And most importantly:<\/p>

With that volume, is there really time to look at your case calmly? To detect anything more than the obvious?<\/p>

For years, many have understood consultancy as a compulsory formality. A formality necessary to comply with the tax authorities. But when consultancy is just that - delivering forms on time - it ceases to fulfil its most valuable function: to be a second look. An external view, with distance, with judgement, with the capacity to warn you before the error becomes a cost.<\/p>

Because the problem is not not knowing. The problem is to move forward without anyone questioning what you are taking for granted. The problem is making decisions without a second opinion, without contrast, without context. And that - even if it is not reflected in a balance sheet - has a cost.<\/p>

Not everything cheap is profitable. And not everything expensive is an expense. Sometimes, the biggest cost is not in what you pay, but in what you ignore because you don't have someone to ask the right question in time.<\/p><\/div>

Tambi\u00e9n describe muchos de los problemas que se encuentran los peque\u00f1os empresarios. Ya que es precisamente eso que no sabemos que no sabemos lo que m\u00e1s da\u00f1o puede hacernos. Porque si algo no lo sabes, pero sabes que no lo sabes, puedes preguntar, formarte, pedir ayuda. Pero cuando ni siquiera sabes que deber\u00edas estar mirando ah\u00ed, el problema crece en silencio, sin resistencia, hasta que se vuelve demasiado grande para ignorarlo. Muchos aut\u00f3nomos y empresarios tienen un asesor o gestor al que le env\u00edan las facturas una vez al trimestre. Esa persona calcula los impuestos, informa del resultado y, de vez en cuando, resuelve alguna duda por tel\u00e9fono. Es un modelo funcional\u2026 hasta cierto punto. Hoy es f\u00e1cil encontrar asesor\u00edas low-cost que responden solo por WhatsApp o email. Muchas veces, incluso, es una IA quien contesta las preguntas b\u00e1sicas. Todo muy eficiente, muy moderno, y tambi\u00e9n, muy limitado. El servicio suele reducirse a lo que t\u00fa mismo subes a la plataforma. Sin preguntas. Sin contexto. Sin nadie que mire tu actividad con profundidad. Tambi\u00e9n est\u00e1n los despachos donde ves al asesor brevemente, cada tres meses, cuando entregas las facturas. Suma, calcula, presenta\u2026 y hasta la pr\u00f3xima. Y entonces uno se pregunta: \u00bfCu\u00e1ntos clientes necesitan gestionar para que ese modelo sea rentable? Y lo m\u00e1s importante: \u00bfCon ese volumen, de verdad hay tiempo para mirar tu caso con calma? Para detectar algo m\u00e1s que lo obvio? Durante a\u00f1os, muchos han entendido la asesor\u00eda como un tr\u00e1mite obligatorio. Una formalidad necesaria para cumplir con Hacienda. Pero cuando la asesor\u00eda se queda solo en eso \u2014en entregar modelos a tiempo\u2014, deja de cumplir su funci\u00f3n m\u00e1s valiosa: ser una segunda mirada. Una mirada externa, con distancia, con criterio, con capacidad de advertirte antes de que el error se convierta en coste. Porque el problema no es no saber. El problema es avanzar sin que nadie cuestione lo que est\u00e1s dando por hecho. El problema es tomar decisiones sin una segunda opini\u00f3n, sin contraste, sin contexto. Y eso \u2014aunque no se vea reflejado en un balance\u2014 tiene un coste. No todo lo barato es rentable. Y no todo lo caro es un gasto.
